The new administrative technical standard of health programs for adults and the elderly persons in Panama focuses on Interprofessional Education
On May 16 and 17, the National Team of the Adult and Senior Health Program of the General Directorate of Public Health of the Ministry of Health of Panama held the workshop to update the participants to use the new standard of health care for adults, elderly persons on clinical trials history. In the activity directed to the local staff, which includes doctors, nurses, social workers and directors, the focus of Interprofessional Education was present.
Dr. Raquel de Mock, family physician and coordinator of the Adult and Elderly Health Program, is responsible for the event's organizing team and for being a member of the standards development technical committee. She participated in the regional technical meeting on Interprofessional Education, held in December in Brazil, organized by PAHO.
The Panama workshop is an activity of the plan for the implementation of the IEP in the country, in accordance with the commitment established at that technical meeting.
As part of the agenda of the event, an exhibition was held on interprofessional education for collaborative work in primary care and resolution of practical exercises of cases through interprofessional team.
One of the important results demonstrated at the event is the incorporation of the EIP approach to the recent Technical Administrative Standard for Adult and Elderly Health Programs for use in all units of the Ministry of Health that offer primary health care.
