Launched criteria for affiliation to REIP
With the objective of strengthening the process of articulation and technical cooperation between educational institutions, professional organizations, and Ministries of Health and Education in the interprofessional education and collaborative practice, on July 7, 2019, the Regional Interprofessional Education Network of the Americas (REIP, Spanish acronym) launched the criteria for affiliation to REIP. The document was developed under the coordination of the Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization (PAHO / WHO) and aims to guide institutions interested in joining the network.
“Only national IPE networks established in countries formed by institutions that train human resources for health and health organizations can be affiliated with the REIP”, said Larisa Carrera, representative of Argentina at the Executive Secretariat of REIP. In this sense, countries can form national IPE networks and present the proposal for affiliation to REIP.
The process to join the REIP includes submission of a two-year plan with an explicit focus on interprofessional education and collaborative practice sent to the executive secretariat of the network, located in Argentina, Brazil and Chile.
The advantages of joining REIP include sharing evidence and best practices in interprofessional education and practice, actively participating in REIP events, meetings, conferences, and technical support for the development of IPE initiatives.
About the REIP
REIP was created in 2017 as a strategy among countries interested in the development of interprofessional education, with the aim of contributing to the improvement of the quality of health services and health education through the work of interprofessional teams. REIP currently has 19 countries. The goal is to reach 25 participating REIP countries with national IPE networks by the end of 2020.
