Honduras holds the First Academic Forum on Interprofessional Education
On November 30, 2018, the University of Health Sciences of Honduras held the "I Academic Forum on Interprofessional Education in Health Sciences".
The event is part of the activities of the country's action plan for the implementation of Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practices in Health (IPECP), presented to PAHO / WHO.
In search of the continuous improvement of the quality of education and health care in Honduras, the forum was developed through the five Heads of Academic Units of the University School of Health Sciences - EUCS of the Autonomous University of Honduras, for which they formed the main panel as members of the event, in addition to the presence of University Authorities and Coordinators of Units and Committees of the School.
The objectives of the forum were:
- Know and reflect on the concepts of education, learning, research, practice and interprofessional attention in Health Sciences, from a focus of the academy.
- Identify and share some practices related to interprofessional education in health sciences that integrate these concepts.
- Sensitize the team of academic managers in health sciences on interprofessional education.
With generating questions, such as: How would you define holistic and integral interprofessional education, interprofessional learning, interprofessional practice, interprofessional attention and interprofessional research? How do you consider the approach of interprofessional education for the training of our future professionals in the Health Sciences? Participants actively participated in the forum, having a discussion among all, providing their related insights.
Dr. José Raúl Arita, director of the EUCS, concluded that expectations were exceeded and that the the IPE & Collaborative Practices in Honduras will continue to be advanced.
