Alma-Ata 40 years: Interprofessional Teams with focus on Primary Health Care
Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization (PAHO / WHO) produced the video in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Alma-Ata Declaration (International Conference on Primary Health Care in Almaty, USSR).
The video makes it possible to reflect on which strategies are able to contribute to the transformation of health systems based on Primary Health Care. In addition, it shows that all Organization's (PAHO) strategies and action plans are developed based on the principles of Primary Health Care.
Regarding the area of human resources in health, during the session of the 29th Pan American Sanitary Conference, in September 2017,the Strategy for Universal Access to Health and Universal Health Coverage was approved (CSP29/10), which encourages PAHO / WHO Member States, in accordance with their contexts and national priorities, to promote the development of interprofessional teams within the service network through interprofessional education (IPE) and diversification of learning contexts, adapting professional profiles and new forms of work organization (delegation and redistribution of tasks) with a focus on Primary Health Care.
Therefore, in these 40 years of Alma Ata, it can be verified that IPE is a strategy that can contribute to Primary Health Care to achieve health for all.
